Gymnema (Gymnema Sylvestre) naturally grows in the tropical forests of central and southern India, which is its historical homeland, found on the island of Sri Lanka. Gymnema is a highly branched, perennial, evergreen plant. This is a large tree vine capable of rooting in nodes. The stems of the plant are bare, branched, lignified, young tips are pubescent. Gymnema leaves are simple, placed opposite, elliptical or oval.*
